Roy Plumley, Plymstock Radford candidate for 2021
I am the Liberal Democrats candidate for your ward. The electoral ward of Radford
is home to me, a place where I have lived in and served, most of my working life. I
still live in the area and will always have a visible presence. I was privileged to have
served in the Royal Air Force at RAF Mount Batten, as my last posting, having
previously served around the world. I then became a Police Officer with the Devon
and Cornwall Constabulary and served in many roles in Plymstock, Plymouth and
again, other Countries. These roles have included community uniform roles, and
plain clothes Detective roles.
In later years, as a volunteer, I have been a Ranger and Plymouth Area Co-ordinator
for the National Cycle Network (Sustrans) involved in maintenance of existing assets
and planning and infrastructure of new routes. I am also active with other Radford
and Plymouth area organisations to improve and preserve environment and our
heritage. I am hands on; having taken part in local efforts to fight the scourge of
discarded plastic and other insidious litter.
If elected I will, on behalf of the community, make sure I have strong links with our
local community Police, whom have been shamelessly denuded over the years; a
voice for people's concerns in this respect. I welcome such initiatives such as Devon
and Cornwall Alert scheme.
I will also press for a reverse in the lamentable state of our roads, encourage
community groups, wherever possible, and scrutinise any matter which affects our
green spaces and environment
