Lib Dem and Independent run Torbay Council has unveiled new state of the art lighting and work has started as part of a £750,000 programme of projects to revamp key sites in Torquay.
A video showing a simulation of the new festoon lighting at Torquay Prom has been unveiled and diggers have started work on the new Banjo path at Princess Gardens and resurfacing of the football and netball courts is underway at Upton Park.

Lib Dem and Independent run Torbay Council has secured £1.9m in grant funding via the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) for Torbay Leisure Centre to upgrade the heating plant, improve energy efficiency, and reduce the centre's carbon emissions by 60%.
This project will play a major part in accelerating progress towards Torbay Council's ambitions of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030. Torbay Leisure Centre is managed by Parkwood Leisure who have supported the grant application, and will oversee the delivery of the project.

Devon Liberal Democrats are calling for a real-terms pay rise for NHS workers after going above and beyond in a national crisis
Cllr Julian Brazil, a member of the authority's Children's Services Scrutiny Committee and Lib Dem deputy group leader said:
"The real-terms pay cut the government has put forward is an insult to all the NHS workers who have gone above and beyond during this time of national crisis. They are burned out, traumatised, and stressed after over a year caring for hundreds of thousands of severely ill Covid patients. On top of this, they have worked tirelessly to get as many people vaccinated as efficiently and as safely as possible.

Lib Dem Led Teignbridge District Council has approved and financed the Teignbridge 100 programme to deliver new council homes for rent at their annual budget meeting this week.
Teignbridge has a housing list of some 1000 households. Each year around 400 households are found new homes, and as new households find themselves in need, the list stays at around the same level of 1000 households.

The clue is in the title. He served 31 years in the Devon and Cornwall Police retiring as a Detective Chief Inspector on the National Crime Squad and during that time investigated a lot of crime. Other parts of his service were in Uniform, CID and Special Branch.
In short, he has lots of experience of all forms of policing having dealt with offenders and victims alike.

The Liberal Democrats and Independent run Torbay Council have granted a foster carer couple Freedom of the Borough for their contribution towards improving the lives of Children.
Torbay Council are delighted to confirm The Civic Committee's recommendation to award Honorary Freedom of the Borough to Mr Dave and Mrs Dawn Barnett who have provided foster carer placements for children and young people for approximately 43 years.

Devon Liberal Democrats are backing calls to make pet theft a specific criminal offence and change the law to treat stolen dogs as animals rather than possessions.
A petition to make dog theft a specific criminal offence has so far reached 194, 171 signatures. According to the charity DogLost there has been a 170% increase in dog thefts since lockdown started.
