    Hugh Janes, Plymouth Lib Dems Honorary President, took part in the BBC Radio Devon political debate on 10 January 2023. In the studio were presenter David 'Fitz' Fitzgerald, and Councillors Tudor Evans (Leader of the Labour group), Rebecca Smith (Cons), Ian Poyser (Greens) and Nick Kelly (Ind).

    The successful track record of Liberal Democrats who run councils was Hugh's first point, where we have an excellent reputation for budget responsibility, care provision and delivery of services.

    Plymouth Liberal Democrats have announced their candidates for the January 12th by-elections in Moor View and Plympton Chaddlewood.

    Colin MacKenzie (image, left) for Moor View, and Mike Gillbard (image, right) for Plympton Chaddlewood are both passionate about improving lives of Plymouth residents. The environment, sustainable travel, mental health, young people, and ensuring that areas outside of the City Centre get a fair share are some of the areas that they are keen to address.

    Plymouth Liberal Democrats have come out in support of the STRAW campaign to save Armada Way's trees. At an Executive Meeting on Monday the newly elected Chair, Katie McManus, said, "As a party that has always been a leader on environmental issues the preservation of trees is vital. Apart from the pleasure a mature tree provides, they are essential to fighting the climate increase, reducing toxic pollution and providing a home for hundreds of birds and insects. We believe this green lung at the heart of Plymouth is a great contributor to the well-being of the people of this city and a highly valuable area of urban forest."
